F.A.Q.

Why to choose to rectify my engine?

The word  rectify  means   repairing the engine in normal operation and standards after the normal or abnormal wear of the engine.

Rectify has three different phases:

1) Liner Grinding

1)An engine, either gasoline or diesel, operates with pistons, which are moving reciprocating inside the cylinders, with infinitesimal tolerance. This area is sealed with rings, covering any gap between piston and cylinder, resulting in burning the fuel and the engine to give back all its power. The reciprocating movement of the pistons, has as a consequence the normal wear of the abutting surfaces, which opens the diameter of the cylinder in hundredths of a millimeter. As a result, escapes the fuel and reduces the efficiency of the engine, resulting the engine to burn oil, and generally show wear and damage, for your pocket and for the environment. Our Job, with special machinery and enormous attention is to grind by half to one millimeter the diameter of the liner, to install the pistons and rings of the corresponding dimension (oversize). This restores the normal operation of the pistons.

2) Crankshaft and Bearings Grinding

2) The crankshaft is the axis on which the piston is connected through a connecting rod, and converts the reciprocating movement of the pistons into rotary movement. Here the connection is made with main bearings and the connecting rod bearings, which are special alloy metals which avoids possible friction and wear. Our job, with special machines and huge attention, is to grind the damaged connection points of the crankshaft from half, or up to one millimeter in diameter, and then installing the respective bearings for the full implementation and lubrication of the engine parts.

 3) Valve and Valves Seats Grinding

3) The valves allow the introduction of the fuel, and the extraction of exhaust. Must seal the combustion space between the piston and the cylinder in order to achieve expansion and conversion of the reciprocating motion into rotary. Valves and their seats, are subject to wear, with a consequent loss of compression. There are special machinery equipment that recondition the valve seats and the valves in their original condition, unless the wear is excessive and need to be replaced.

When I should worry about my engine?

If your engine has a problem or have noticed some of the warning signs, such as excessive white or black smoke, loud noise or loss of power, then it might be time to rectify your engine. Before we begin any work, it is necessary experienced staff to carry out a check to your engine to determine the extent of the damage. After testing and detecting the damage, the engine can be repaired (rectified), to its original specifications.

How do I know who to choose to make the job?

Many things will give you a pretty good indication of where to go and who to choose. The working environment, the facilities? It is clean? Have a professional appearance? Ask them for their machinery equipment. Do not select only according the price. Check the store that you choose and do a lot of questions.

Can I provide you my own engine spare parts?

Absolutely. You can buy the engine parts you want in order to install them on your engine.

Can I bring my vehicle in your store in order you to dismount and mount the engine in my vehicle?

No. We are engine reconditioning center and specialized only in engine repair or in parts of the engine. On other hand, we can communicate with the stuff that make your vehicle’s regular service and pick your engine from there. Also, we can recommend you a workshop and they will organize the dismounting and mounting of the engine.

How much will it cost to recondition my engine?

The price will vary depending on the extent of the work that is required. In order for us to give you a realistic quote, we will need to find out the following information about your vehicle: Make and Model, Year, Petrol or Diesel, Engine number (e.g. Mitsubishi 4G63 DOHC), vehicle mileage and any issues or problems you are encountering. To obtain a quote about the prices and your engine needs, please call us.

I have many different prices for the same work, which should I choose?

When repairing the engine, the cheapest price-solution will not always be your best choice. Choose someone you trust, look for the right combination of value for money and work and be careful not to lured by low prices. There is no need to select a job to be done at half price, if will not be done correctly the first time. Not only is waste of money, but potentially a good engine or a part of the engine, will be destroyed by such repair.

How important is the cleaning of the engine or the cleaning of the engine parts to a repair?

Cleaning the engine parts is important to the success of the reconditioning. Our company has an engine washing machine which uses special chemical liquid at high temperature, and as a result all the engine components are prepared in perfect condition, ready to be rectified. Moreover using sandblasting machine, we prepare   engine components, such as valves, ready to be rectified.

The following conditions apply:

-The engine must not have been misused, ie. Overheating, Modifications.
-The guarantee does not cover fees and costs of others services in the vehicles.

When I bring my Cylinder Head for repair, what happens next?

First off all, is checked for cracks and leaks. If there are cracks, then the cylinder head is useless. Once pressed and there are no cracks, is tested for hardness (aluminum heads) and straightness (especially important if overheated). If is overheated the surface needs to be grinded. Then the cylinder head is disassembled, cleaned with special chemical liquid, and all parts are checked for wear and damage. All valves and their drivers are checked for wear and damage. The valve seats are controlled if they fit in the valves and if there is proper pressure (vacuum). At the end valve seals are placed   and cylinder head is assembled.

What kind of surface finishing do I need for my Cylinder Head?

There are different surface finishes for cast iron and aluminum. The important point is that the reconditioner should know and understand the difference, since the error may seriously jeopardize the life expectancy of the gasket. Basically, the iron requires not such a smooth finish surface, relative to the aluminum which needs a smooth finish as a mirror. The right finish plays an important role for the good sealing of the gasket, and you can obtain it with the latest modern machinery equipment.

Could you check the Cylinder Head for any Cracks and Leaks?

We can test the cylinder heads for cracks and leaks. We have equipment for testing any cracks in the engine block and in the cylinder heads. The cooling channels in the cylinder head are pressed with air pressure so as to indicate leaks. All types of cylinder heads can be tested. If water is able to leak into other areas of the cylinder head, this will be shown, and the cylinder head is useless.

I have installed Autogas (LPG) in my vehicle. Can I secure the life of the engine with some special engine parts?

As the Autogas (LPG) has different properties than the unleaded gas, the engine may face problems when converting to LPG. We can offer options that can improve the performance and reliability of the engine with LPG. Our company has parts that are compatible to run on LPG. What is a reconditioned engine?

A reconditioned engine is just an engine that has returned to its original form, according to the manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances to provide levels of performance, reliability and life similar to that of the original engine.

Many engines operate in conditions that can be described as “hostile”, ie as quarries, sand pits, timber meters, corn fields, grain fields, etc., where external factors such as dust and dirt have a huge impact on life of the engine. As we mention on our website, there are very good environmental and economic reasons for choosing the option of reconditioning.

Can all the Engines be reconditioned?

Most of the time yes. Whether is an engine of a giant Caterpillar earthmoving machine or a small three-cylinder Suzuki, we have the equipment and knowledge to meet your needs. Many times, however this depends on the damage may have been done to the engine. For example, if a connecting rod is passed from the other side of the block, that block cannot be reused. Contact us to see how we can meet your requirements.

How long it takes to recondition an engine?

This will vary depending on the extent of the work that is required. For a standard 4 cylinder engine this will usually take between 2 to 3 working days depending on our workload. It is important to us, to get you back on the road as soon as possible, so if you have a specific timeframe in mind, please ensure you let us know.

I have an engine and I want to improve it for racing performance. Do you undertake such Repairs - Improvements?

Our company undertakes racing engine improvements. An engine for racing use will be subject to extreme operation and performance, than a daily engine. It is vital to put only high quality components for preventing the failure or damage of the engine parts and to ensure reliability.

Do you recondition only the whole engine?

No. Is it possible to recondition only the cylinder head or some other parts of the engine? It will be reconditioned at the same level as total engine.

The reconditioning of the Engine considered to be a form Recycle?

The reconditioning of an engine is a form of recycling and helps the environment. From the collection of raw materials in the production of steel, to become the engine and the engine parts, a huge amount of energy spent in this process. It is obvious, then, that an enormous amount of energy is saved from this recondition. Good for the pocket and good for the environment.
